January 26, 1993 – Waupaca Area Community Radio was incorporated in the State of Wisconsin and is headquartered in Waupaca at N4298 Oakland Drive.

May 19, 1993 – Corporate by-laws were written and approved by the board of directors.

July 24, 2000 – Doug Vernier – Broadcast Consultant, completed a frequency search. He concluded that a broadcast frequency was available. However the FCC had instated a temporary freeze on all Non Commercial Educational FM permits due to a backlog of mutually exclusive applications.

December 15, 2006 – Waupaca Area Community Radio engaged the services of Doug Vernier Telecommunications Consultants to provide Broadcast Engineering consultation with regard to FM allocations and FCC application work when requested.

April 5, 2007 – The FCC’s Media Bureau announced a filing window for new Non Commercial Educational FM stations. The filing window will open on Friday, October 12, 2007, and close on Friday, October 19, 2007.

April 9, 2007 – Waupaca Area Community Radio engaged the services of Jerold Jacobs of the Law Firm of Cohn & Marks in Washington D. C. to complete the application.

October 16, 2007 – Waupaca Area Community Radio filed for a construction permit with the FCC for a Non Commercial Educational FM Broadcast Facility.

September 2, 2010 – Waupaca Area Community Radio was given tentative designation as the grantee of a construction permit from Group 544 of mutually exclusive applications.

November 23, 2010 – Waupaca Area Community Radio was granted a construction permit for a Non Commercial Educational FM Broadcast Facility on the assigned frequency of 91.5.

November 23, 2010 to November 23, 2013 – Interim board of directors develops a business plan. 501 c 3 status is confirmed with the IRS. Project engineer proposes site move to a different tower location to cut antenna costs and increase population served. Call sign application for call sign WAUP is reserved with the FCC.

Fundraising efforts commence but are met with a lukewarm response by potential local funders and plans for construction are halted.

October 15, 2013 – After consultation with a broadcast attorney and broadcast consultant, the interim board President decides to cancel the high power broadcast construction permit and re-apply for a Low Power FM permit with the FCC in a November filing window.

November 13, 2013 – An application for a Low Power FM community radio station on channel 99.1 for Waupaca Area Community Radio is filed with the FCC.

January 15, 2014 – A construction permit is issued to Waupaca Area Community Radio for a Low Power FM at the assigned frequency of 99.1 with the reserved call sign of WAUP. The permit will expire in 18 months.

July 11, 2015 – 99.1 WAUP is officially on the air!

January, 2018 – WAUP relocates it’s transmission facility to the Shambeau Water Tower in Waupaca to enhance it’s coverage area.
